It isn’t easy to care for hair properly. There are lots of things you need for success. Moisturizing, nourishing, repair, protection… How to care for hair so it grows healthy and fabulous? You just need to remember about four essential things.
Before getting the repair treatment at the salon, you must realize that at-home care is the most important. Even the most expensive therapy will fail if you don’t nourish your hair properly, protect it against the sun, keep it tied during sleep or use conditioning products that it really needs. That is why you need to introduce these four simple things that hair must receive to be healthy. If they don’t prove effective, then you can seek further help.
4 THINGS THAT YOUR HAIR REALLY NEEDS
1. Nutrients in foods: vitamins and minerals.
Nutritional ingredients are the basic thing the hair needs. Delivering them with food is the easiest and most effective way. Make sure your menu contains products like dairy, vegetables, fruit, wholegrains, healthy fats (e.g. rapeseed oil, fish, avocado). The hair mostly needs vitamins A and E, vitamins B, zinc and silicon. When a diet is rich in nuts, veggies and legumes, you are more likely to deliver the optimal number of nutrients. Unhealthy diet, highly processed food and chemical-based meals don’t benefit your hair – what you eat, sooner or later, affects your strands.
2. Natural oils: rich source of omega-3 and omega-6 acids.
It’s good to eat foods rich in healthy fats but you should also provide them by using the right conditioning products based on vegetable oils: shampoos, conditioners, masks, but also pure organic oils. Fine-quality, cold-pressed, unrefined vegetable oils abound in essential fatty acids (unsaturated) as well as phytosterols and other antioxidants. They are all necessary for keeping hair healthy. Which oils to choose then? Argan oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, cottonseed oil and castor oil are the best-sellers and they surely give the best effects. Still, this doesn’t mean you can’t use other oils. If the oil you pick is natural and free from synthetics, it won’t cause any damage.
3. Humectants: substances that deliver water to hair.
Dry hair never looks good because optimal hydration level is essential for hair’s health and lovely look. There are two ways of achieving it: firstly, drink the necessary amount of water daily; secondly, deliver humectants with conditioning products. Humectants store and deliver water to the inner layers of hair. Hyaluronic acid is the strongest humectant but aloe juice, honey or urea work well too – make sure your hair mask and conditioner (either readymade or DIY) has at least one humectant. Humectants paired with emollients (vegetable oils) make sure your hair is perfectly hydrated and damage-proof.
4. Protective substances, securing against heat, solar radiation, etc.
Full protection against harmful factors is the last thing your hair really needs. Make sure you shield it against damage to the structure and loss of hydration caused by the UV radiation, wind, freezing weather, humidity, dry air, heat. UV filters are a must (not just in the summer!) as much as protection while blow-drying and heat-styling. How to keep hair safe easily? Go for heat protectant sprays and mists, but also natural oils. Organic argan oil is the best oil for protection: just two drops are enough to shield as well as nourish the hair.
